Buttermere Birch

One of the triad of iconic trees that live on the shores of Buttermere; I think it the fairest of the English Lakes.

This rather motley specimen somehow clings to life in its waterlogged environment. I have attempted to show its form rather than any great detail although the print retains slight detail in the distant hills, annoyingly lost in this translation to the screen.

Taken with a Bronica SQa medium format camera (a delightfully machine) fitted with a 50mm lens on Kodak Tmax 400 developed in Prescysol and printed on Foma warm tone paper, which was developed in Neutol WA developer.
